4th of July, 2004. A new tradition of taking advantage of the
long holiday weekend by getting as far away from the fireworks
and traffic (yes, we do have traffic in Anchorage. Electricity,
too!) as possible. Last year a large group of us hiked to Grizzly
Bear Lake. This year, it was only Dick and I that went, but it
was awesome nonetheless. We went to an area called the Archangel
Lakes -- near Grizzly Bear Lake, just on the other side of the
Kinglet Peaks ridge. The next page has a link to a topographic
map that shows our route.
In this picture, Dick and I stand on the summit of CampRobber
Peak, almost 6,000' high. It was a distressingly easy climb to
the top.
